Vincent Fuso, Randy Lipelt and Maximiliano Sanchez, members of Boy Scout Troop No. 199, earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Aug. 21.
Fuso’s community service project included installing a rock on the footing of the Knights Ferry Replica Bridge at the San Joaquin County Historical Museum’s educational Sunshine Trail. Vincent is the son of Tony and Melanie Fuso, of Lodi.
Lipelt’s project was building a memorial gazebo that was erected at the Mokelumne Fire Department in Lockeford in honor of Battalion Chief Carey Nelson, who lost his life to cancer. Lipelt is the son of Randy and Sue Lipelt, of Lockeford.
Sanchez’s project was a book drive for the Aspire Charter Schools in the Lodi Unified School District. He collected more than 1,800 books for the charter schools. Sanchez is the son of Roldolfo and Cynthia Sanchez, of Lodi.
To become an Eagle Scout, scouts must earn the required 21 merit badges, plus additional badges of their choice, serve in a variety of leadership roles and complete a major community service project. A court of honor for the three will be held in December at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mr. Diskin, the Boy Scouts will survive without your support. It's ok to congratulate the young men without the added comentary.
Job well done guys!

I would like to take this opportunity to congragulate these young men- I grew up with many Eagle Scouts in my family and this is no small feat! Promotion of patriotism, moral values and a commitment to one's self and community is something we need more of!

While I commend the time that these three have dedicated to the program, I still find it difficult to support a group with a conscious decision to disallow gays and atheists.
Contrast this with the Girl Scouts who have demonstrated inclusion at every opportunity.
