American Legion gives membership awards

Some 77 members of American Legion Lodi Post 22 were acknowledged for their years with the Post at the Legion's recent annual membership dinner.

Service Officer Ken Kramlich announced their names and presented certificates to those who were present. Among those present with the longest memberships were Charles May, 60 years, and Melvin Quashnick and Emerald Saylor, 55 years. Two 65-year members, Elwood Beckman and Roland Haschu, were not at the meeting.

Other 60-year members are Elton Ebel and Ruben Moser; 55-year members: Barney Filbin and John Miller; 50-year members: Robert Beckman, Harold Goehrein, Frank Heisler, Chester Locke and Ernest Mahl; and 45-year members: Kenneth Heinitz and Silas Suits.

Awards for  40 years of membership went to Ervin Bitterman, Fran Forkas, Wayne Kildall, Robert Mason, August Miller, Bruce Mettler and Rodney Rempfer. Dennis Schwartz was honored for 35 years, and Joseph Donahue, LeRoy Hensley and Frank Sumersille for 30 years.

Dean Bosch, Neil Cox, Benjamin Hinz, Richard Mayer, William Pena and Melvin Taves were recognized for 25-year membershops and 20-year members included Walter Bechtold, Rudy Bilawski, Wayne Christman, Constantine Copulos, Lawrence Figueira, Reuben Gomez, Melvin Hilscher, Robert Hopkins, Albert Kieser, William Webb and Robert Will.

Awards for 15-year memberships went to Melchior Gonzales, James Meidinger, amd T. W. Peterson. Lester Anderson, Paul Beasom, Tracy Hightower, Harold Jackson, Tom Kosta, Albert McGoogan, Dean McNeely, Robert Peterson and Roy Platt received 10-year awards.

San Joaquin County Supervisor Ken Vogel was among the five-year membership group, which also included John Austin, Tomas Bagshaw, Glenn Biddy, Harry Brandt, Glenn Carpenter, Pat Fitzpatrick, Travis Hausauer, Robert Hinz, Peter Iturraran, Anthony Libordi, Al Lopez, Cary McCord, Joseph McDonald, Duke McDonnell, Gordon Minick, Harry Nitschke, Raphael Pazo, Allan Perkett, Frank Pleterski, Eugene Rizzolo, John Stroh and Virgil Suess.
