The Lodi Lions Club recently conducted the local club level of the 76th annual Lions Club Multiple District 4 student speaker contest.
The student speaker contest is a program that includes most of the 790 local Lions Clubs throughout California. The speech contest topic for 2012 was: “How Do We Create and Keep Jobs in America?”
The student speaker contest offers the opportunity for students to earn college scholarship money as they progress through the various levels of speeches within Multiple District 4. The Lions Fourth District Students Speakers Foundation will provide scholarships totaling $103,000. Ultimately, the overall winner will earn $21,000 in scholarship money.
The Lodi Lions Club contest featured Bradley Wright, this year’s winner, from Lodi High School. Other contestants included Jessica Gaitan and Mawada Ezubeik, both from Bear Creek High School.
The Lodi Lions Club meets every Wednesday at noon at Burgundy Hall at the Lodi Grape Festival Grounds. For more information or to get involved with the Lodi Lions Club, please call Lion Pat Galvan at 209-331-4245 or visit www.lodilions.org.
