Liberty Oaks Pony Club riders recently had a busy Saturday. Several members were tested by examiner Karin Van Diemen. Lindsey McKinney, Hannah Lingo and Esther Taylor earned D3 certificates and Savannah Spears was awarded her C1.

Other members were treated to a trip to Shady Oaks Farm, where they watched the exciting Combined Driving Marathon competition and were also treated to a trip through the barns to meet some of the horses and drivers. They were also delighted to discover one of the drivers, Franchesca Canfield, who drives her Welsh cross pony Top Notch “Nigel,” was the mother of Vanessa Canfield, a LOPC alumnus.

The next mounted meeting at Gateway Farm will be Oct. 13. Visitors are welcome. Oct. 26 will be a sponsors meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dolly Lakso’s home.

The next day, Oct. 27, members will travel to Vista Del Rio at Lone Tree Farm in Waterford to school cross country in preparation for participating in a Hunter Pace competition the next day on Oct. 28. They will be camping with their horses. For more information, call Ann Fickert at  209-367-1915.
