The Real Men’s Club had its monthly luncheon on June 6 at Hardesty’s. Hardesty’s is located at 12606 Hardesty Lane, Galt. It is a one of a kind property with large dinosaur statues placed in various spots.

It is a great location with a large lake called Lake Haveafew, fancy gazebo, sandy beaches, and a very large covered area to eat in comfort. Attendees enjoyed a tropical atmosphere sitting around the lake and sipping on a cocktail.

The event started at 11:30 a.m. and went till 2:30 p.m. Lunch was served promptly at noon and included pig on-a-spit, BBQ Chicken, cooler corn, salad, rolls, and Velvet Creamery ice cream. Of course, refreshments were available all day long and all for a $25 donation to the club. Many of the attendees went home even happier after winning one or more of the great raffle prizes available. Ramos Jewelers donated a watch worth $500.

With this month’s donations, the Real Mens Club was able to donate $1,000 to Dillard 4H, $500 to Galt Sunrise Rotary (for backpacks for Galt Elementary Students), and $500 to the Amber Gahler Scholarship Fund.

Recently the club invested in a new trailer to store all their supplies. They are looking for local businesses who would like to advertise on the trailer. The cost is $200 a year and a one-time fee of $30 for the stickers. For more information on how to advertise on the trailer, contact Frank Duwel at 209-747-1524.

The Real Men's Club was founded in 2011 with the purpose of hosting monthly lunches and special events to raise money for worthy local needs.  All profits derived from these lunches and events are given directly to the monthly recipients, as determined by the board of directors. To get more information on our upcoming events, visit www.realmensclub.org or reach out to us on Facebook. All are welcome, no membership required. Any of the board members would be happy to answer any questions about the organization. The next luncheon will be on Aug. 1 at Herald Park.

Poll

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
