On Oct. 5 Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 and Stockton Elks Lodge No. 218 participated at their annual Jamboree held in Walnut Creek.

This District fundraiser was attended by 11 Elks Lodges, who get together to have fun and raise funds for various local youth activities, such as hoop shoot, scholarships, drug awareness programs and the Americanism Essay Contest (which instills patriotism in our youth).

Even though all three lodges’ teams cooked their hearts out making the best chili you’ll ever taste at the chili cook-off, they did not win the competition (those Bay Area judges don’t know good chili). Thousands were raised at this event.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
