'Art Annual' winners announced

The Lodi Art Center held its 50th Art Annual at Woodbridge Winery on March 20 and 21. Here are the winners.

Best in Show: Crazy Legs, a metal sculpture by Jarrod Mays

3-D: Squished by Samuel Bassett and Pepe Pool, first place; Spring Vessel by Cliff Johnson, second place; Water's Law by Mira Woodworth, Spur Clock by Mike Vukovish and Blue Dream by Joel Blum, all honorable mentions.

Acrylics: Northern California Coast by Bob DeMent, first place; Cruising the VA Hospital, Livermore by Vincent Walsh, second place; Last Light by Henrietta Sparkman, Hubble Fix by Mary Lois Thompson, Camarque Barn by William Hamblin and Hot Spot by Rochelle Tietze, all honorable mentions.

Graphics: Glenda by Don Hall, first place; Master and Servant by Ken Woodworth, second place; Geometry by Patti Kennedy, Bixby Bridge II by Katherine Stutz Taylor, Eternal Bliss by Aura Skugariene and Inked Up by Ken Woodworth, all honorable mentions.

Mixed media: Around the corner by William Hamblin, first place; Space Time by Mary Louis Thompson, second place; Springtime Banquet by Gretchen Ryan, Eclipse by Sandra Warddrip, Lost Colony by Mira Woodworth and Chinese Opera Masks by Gretchen Ryan, all honorable mentions.

Oils: San Francisco Dusk by Marilyn Eger, first place; Goldolas by Marilyn Eger, second place; Ernie by Leland Choy, Folsom Moonlight by Loretta Armstrong, Wave II by Kara Schmidt and The Fire Fighters by Eliseo Contreras, all honorable mentions.

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
