William Ed Smith will be honored for his 65 years of membership by Lodi Lodge No. 256 F. & A.M. on Saturday. He became a master mason on March 27, 1947 at the age of 22.

Smith has served the fraternity as master in 1988 and again in 1995. He received the coveted Hiram Award, the highest honor a lodge can bestow on one of its members, in 1996.

He has also been very active with the Lodi Chapter of Easter Star serving as worthy patron in 1952 and initiated his mother into the organization that year. Smith then served as worthy patron when his mother was worthy matron in 1957, and again in 2010 when his daughter, Debbie, was worthy matron of Electa Chapter No. 22 in Idaho.
