On May 5, Soroptimist International of Lodi held its big fundraiser for the year at the Lodi Holiday Inn. Scooters catered the Rollin’ in Ribs dinner with a terrific menu enjoyed by the nearly 100 in attendance. The dessert was furnished by the Salvation Army Culinary School.

A silent auction as well as a live auction was held, giving guests many opportunities to go home with one of the many gifts donated by Soroptimist members, local merchants and wine growers. Merry Donahue and Kim Williams chaired the event, and Donahue and Susan Brazil were the auctioneers who provided a fun evening with lots of laughs.

Special recognition was given to Dan and Kim Williams, of the Salvation Army, who will be leaving Lodi in June. Among other special guests were Andy Prokop, CEO and president of United Way of San Joaquin County, and his guests, Tony Amador, who is running for the Lodi-Galt area’s new state Assembly district, and JoAnn Veer, past governor of the Sierra Pacific Region and a member of SI Watsonville.

Soroptimist International of Lodi is an international organization for women working through service projects to advance human rights, and who are dedicated to the benefit of women and girls. Interested parties, working or retired, who might like to be part of a great organization are encouraged to attend one of the luncheon meetings at Dee Dee’s restaurant on Cherokee Lane in Lodi.
