Riders from Liberty Oaks Pony Club traveled to Willow Creek Horse Park in Willows to participate in a D-Rally. This D-Rally is a competition among pony clubs in the Sierra Pacific Region which includes clubs as far north as Arcata and east to the Reno area.
Riders who have passed riding and horsemanship tests at the D level exemplifying certain skills compete at their levels in teams of three to four riders, a stable manager and a C (higher level) advisor.
Aidded by Trevor Ravera, riders Sophie Weisman, Ashley Buck, Kaitlin Ramos and Miranda Olagary set up their horse trailer as a tackroom. After they were saddled, the riders presented their horses in a jog out for soundness and a turn out inspection for cleanliness and safety of tack and appropriateness of riders attire.
The day continued with dressage tests and a jumping course set at 2 feet, 6 inches. During the day, their tack room was evaluated and they took a written test on their horsemanship knowledge. They all passed with 100 percent! Lindsey McKinney, their C advisor, was available for any questions they might have. At the end of the day with the judging completed, they were delighted to be awarded 2nd place out of 14 competing teams! Congratulations on a job well done!
