The Lodi Garden Club Spring bus trip was to Filoli Gardens in Woodside, about 30 miles south of San Francisco. Upon arrival the 40 club members were divided into four groups. Docents guided each group through the gardens and the Georgian Country Estate while talking about its history and plant collections.
The two-hour tours showed the changing gardens. The April 10th highlights included iris, azaleas, wisteria, and beds of foxgloves. The elegant first floor of the 36,000 square-foot house was part of the tour which included the wood-paneled library and ballroom. After the tour members were on their own to explore and enjoy a box lunch.
The garden store and gift shop was the last stop for purchases of special items from Filoli (FIght-LOve-LIve). Arrangements for the tour were made by Richard and Marsha Griffith. For more information about The Lodi Garden Club activities, call Esther Kreth at 209-367-1544.
