Michael Skaggs, of Boy Scout Troop No. 291, recently completed his Eagle Scout project at the Micke Grove Zoo Educational Center.

He began this project on Jan. 17 with 22 Boy Scouts from his troop. Together, they cleared the small area behind the eductional center. Enclosures were taken down, debris was cut and cleared and thousands of rocks were removed in preparation of taking the existing fence down and put up a new fence.

On July 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Skaggs and 26 troop members put up an 8-foot wooden outer fence.

Skaggs is a senior at Lodi High School. He has been a Scout since the age of 6 and attained his Eagle Scout rank on Aug. 21. He is the son of Debbie and David Skaggs of Lodi.
