Soroptimist International of Lodi hosted a group of women from Hope Harbor Shelter for Women and Children at the annual Christmas party in December. The women had lunch at the Round Table Pizza parlor in Lodi. There were approximately 30 ladies in attendance. Each woman was presented a gift bag from Santa.

SI Lodi donated 22 new comforters and shams for each of the beds for the shelter. Each room has six to 10 beds for women and children. Soroptimist members sewed the shams. They also donated storage bins for the rooms for women to store their personal belongings.

While the ladies had their Christmas lunch, other Sorotimist members presented the new comforters at the shelter. When the ladies returned from lunch, they were surprised by the new comforters on their beds.

In previous years, SI Lodi donated a television, DVD player and clothes washer. This year, the need was for new comforters. Bell Brothers Heating and Air Conditioning made a donation to the club to be used for this project. Round Table Pizza donated drinks for the ladies. Santa was courtesy of Gillespie Photography.

This is SI Lodi’s way of improving the lives of these women during the holiday season.

SI Lodi meets on Tuesdays at Richmaid Restaurant. Upcoming events include bingo night on Feb. 28 at the Masonic Lodge in Woodbridge, and Rollin’ in Ribs VI to be held May 4 at the Holiday Inn Express. For information or to purchase tickets, call 209-334-5389 or email silodi@soroptimist.net.
