On Oct. 6, the Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 set up their annual drug awareness booth at the Lodi Street Fair.

Hal Laney, chairman, along with his daughter, Cathy, and grandchildren, passed out balloons, drug awareness coloring books with crayons, stickers, book markers, wristbands, candy, pencils and various other goodies to all who signed a “commitment to remain drug free”.

They received over 250 signatures. Elroy the Elk was also on hand to greet all the children. Eileen Dugan came later to help pass out the materials along with the Americanism Essay Contest rules to interested 8th graders and thank you notes of service to all passing veterans.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
