Soroptimist International of Lodi is seeking candidates to honor for its annual Ruby Award for Women Helping Women. This award honors ordinary women, who through their professional or personal activities, make extradordinary efforts to improve the lives of women and girls.

Soroptimist International of Lodi is part of Soroptimist International of the Americas, headquartered in Philadelphia. The club joins Soroptimists in more than 120 countries and territories worldwide who offer programs that improve the lives of women and girls through three platforms: education and economic empowerment, elimination of violence and gender equality. Soroptimists also sponsor the Live Your Dream campaign in recognition of the power of women and their dreams.

The Ruby Award honors the first Federation President Ruby Leed Minor. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone you know for the Soroptimist Ruby Award, contact Phyllis Almendarez at silodi@soroptimist.net or visit www.lodisoroptimist.org for an application. The deadline for receipt of applications is Dec. 15. The honoree will be recognized at the annual award night, which will be held in March.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
