The Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 had a drug awareness booth at the Lodi Street Faire on Oct. 7. The Elk volunteers were able to get more than 180 children’s signatures to commit to remain drug-free. They also passed out 200 bags full of goodies with coloring books, all tied with a “Drugs don’t fly with Elks” logo balloon.
In other news, the Lodi Elks Lodge held an ENF fundraising event, Oktoberfest, on Oct. 13. It was based on the theme of the famous German festival. Attendees had an excellent time. Dick Griffith, PER, and his wife Marsha, were the chairpersons of the event, and they did a great job. The delicious German dinner was prepared by Ken and Gaby Libhart, Bob and Irmgard Owen, Don and Carol DelaRiva and Peter Hecker. A hard-core group of dancers put the music of Dallas Knapp, volunteer member, to good use. Other Elk volunteers and local businesses helped make this event successful. The best news is the contribution of nearly $2,000 to the Elks National Foundation, which provides scholarships for local graduating students.
