The Lodi Community Band participated in the sixth annual Golden Gate Park Band Festival on June 9 in San Francisco. The band, one of 11 to perform in the two-day festival, presented a 50-minute concert of marches and music from the big band era.

The band was well received by the San Francisco audience and was greeted with a welcoming ovation when announcer Ron Rader introduced the band as “from Liveable, Loveable, Lodi ... the other great wine country.”

This was the first time the band has been invited to perform in the festival and hopefully it will lead to future invitations to play at the Golden Gate Park Band Festival.

Other bands performing in the festival included the West Bay Community Band from San Mateo, the Sacramento Symphonic Winds from Sacramento, the Golden Gate Park Band from San Francisco, and the Gottschalk Music Center Concert Band from Modesto, among others.

For further information about the band, call 209-368-0612.
