Soroptimist International of Lodi recently inducted Dee Dee Irmen as a member. Vice President and membership chairman Deb Miller presented the new member with her Soroptimist pin and certificate. Irmen is the former owner of Dee Dee’s Restaurant. Soroptimist members met for lunch at her restaurant for several years. After closing the restaurant, she decided she wanted to be a member of this group of fun loving women. We are honored to have her join us as a member.

Soroptimists’ mission is to improve the lives of women and girls in our local community and throughout the world. The word “Soroptimist” means “the best for women.”

New members are encouraged to visit the website at www.lodisoroptimist.org or call the membership committee at 209-334-5389 for more information. Soroptimist International of Lodi welcomes new members.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
