Recognizing the needs in our community, especially of the under-served children of Lodi, the Mexican American Lions Club presented a check in the amount of $500 to the Lodi Adopt-A-Child program on Dec. 11, 2012.

Past LMALC efforts have included donations to help preserve sight through the Lions Club Mobile Eye Clinic; contributing to educational scholarships, participation in community health fairs, high school student speaker contests, the Lodi One-Eighty Teen Center, and local school and sport youth groups; and supporting Camp Pacificia, a camp dedicated to special-needs children and young adults.

The LMALC annual crab feed in scheduled for March 9. The crab feed is one of the club’s largest fundraisers. With the community’s participation in this crab feed fundraiser, the Lodi Mexican American Lions Club will be able to continue to support local needs of our community.

The Lodi Mexican American Lions Club is a tax-exempt, nonprofit organization.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
