More than 40 members of the Lodi Garden Club took a spring bus trip to Richmond and Berkeley nurseries on April 24. Annie's Annuals was the first stop where the two and-a-half acres of rare and unusual annual and perennial could be seen close-up. Each year, Annie's introduces new varieties to their enormous selection. The visit began with a brief introduction on how to locate any plant and how to read the indentification tabs in each planter. Ninety percent of their plants are home grown. After lunch, in the garden, plant purchases were loaded on the bus and members boarded for a short trip to Berkeley Horticultural Nursery. This is a family owned nursery specializing in roses, camellias and rhododendrons. A very large selection of soil additives and conditions is also available.
Several times a year the Lodi Garden Club plans trips to historical gardens, nurseries or landscaped gardens. For more information about the LGC activities call Esther Kreth at 209-367-1544
