Soroptimist International of Lodi begin new year

Soroptimist International of Lodi kicked off the new year at its business meeting at Richmaid on Sept. 11. The co-presidents for the year are Marcia Pothast and Dr. Elizabeth Kass. Twenty four members were in attendance, including new members LaVerne Burns and Amber Lynn.

American Legion Auxiliary installs officers

The American Legion Auxiliary officers were recently installed. They are Barbara Pettigrove, district 11 chaplain; Toni Domondon, district 11 first vice; Deborah Straight, president; Margaret Cross-Fitch, secretary; Bonnie Mayer, first vice; Connie Norton, jr. past president; and Gloria Brosnikoff, treasurer.

Lodi Elks Lodge distributes dictionaries to local students

Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 believes in enhancing the future of our children through the dictionary project. On Sept. 8 and Sept. 15, Charlene Johnson, Exalted Ruler, along with Eileen Dugan, Public Relations, delivered 190 dictionaries to 3rd grade students at Oak View Elementary School in the Lodi area, Valley Oak Elementary School in Galt and 6th grade students at Woodbridge Elementary School in Woodbridge.

Lodi Elks hold annual golf tournament

On Sept. 6th, the Lodi Elks Lodge No.1900 held its annual golf tournament, with the proceeds benefiting the Elks Major Project. There was $725 raised for this worthy cause, which helps children with disabilities.

Live Oak 4H to hold meeting on Monday

The next Live Oak 4H club meeting will be held on Monday at the Lodi Grape & Wine Festival Grounds at 5:30 p.m. in the Grape Pavilion, 413 E. Lockeford St. Our club will have a short meeting, then will be working on our annual club’s grape mural for the up and coming Lodi Grape Festival.

American Legion Riders installation

On Aug. 21, Lodi made history again. American Legion, Post 22 hosted the installation of officers for the first-ever, American Legion Riders, Chapter 22, Lodi. The 12 charter members are dedicated to the ideals of the American Legion and will use their skills, experience, equipment and volunteer hours in support of Veterans and their families. This is not a motorcycle club, but a unique extension of the American Legion.

Lodi Masons present Mason of the Year award

On July 30, Mike Sinclair, Lodi Lodge No. 256 F. & A. M., was honored at a dinner hosted by the Stockton Scottish Rite as “Mason of the Year”. The Scottish Rite holds the event annually to honor outstanding Masons from the San Joaquin Valley and foothill Masonic lodges. Mr. Sinclair was one of 13 masons so honored that evening.
