Lodi Elks holds Flag Day ceremony

On June 15, Lodi Elks Lodge held its annual Flag Day Ceremony. Carolyn Greeson, Exalted Ruler, along with fellow officers, told of the historical relevance of each flag as the scouts of troop no. 199 paraded the flags in front of the audience.

Salvation Army and Lodi House receive donations from Festa Della Donna.

The Salvation Army and Lodi House were grateful recipients of an annual fundraiser titled "Festa Della Donna." Each organization received half of the proceeds from the event. The Salvation Army will use the money to benefit women and their families that reside at The Salvation Army, Hope Harbor Shelter — An emergency shelter for men, women and children and single parents with children. Annette Murdaca presented the check at The Salvation Army Advisory Board Meeting in June.

Soroptimists elect new officers for 2014-15

Soroptimist International of Lodi installed new officers for 2014-15 on June 26 at the home of member Dr. Elizabeth Kass. The new board was installed by Sierra Pacific Region Governor Pat Jones. The new board includes members of the current clubs, Soroptimist International of Lodi and Lodi Sunrise. These two clubs have joined forces and will be known as Soroptimist International of Lodi. Soroptimist International of Lodi was formed in 1945 and they chartered Soroptimist International of Lodi Sunrise in 1989.

Elks host Boy Scouts for Trail to Class program

On June 2 through 4, Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900 donated their grounds to several Scout troops who undertook the “Trail to First Class” program. This program is boy lead and driven and has older Scouts teach newer Scouts who have just "bridged" from Cub Scouts, life learning skills.

Soroptimists donate to several local non-profits

Soroptimist International of Lodi held its final meeting for the year in June. Beginning in September they will be joined by members of SI Lodi Sunrise. Members are looking forward to combining the efforts of these two groups of awesome women. New members are welcome. Go to www.lodisoroptimist.org for more information. The new year will begin on Sept. 9th with meetings being held at Richmaid Restaurant on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. President Lynn Hendrick made donations to the following organizations and foundations as her President’s Project.

Cloud 7 Assembly installs Amanda Ramos as worthy advisor

On June 9, Amanda Ramos was installed as Worthy Advisor of Cloud 7 Assembly, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG) which meets at the Woodbridge Masonic Center. As Worthy Advisor, Ramos will plan and direct all activities and fundraisers for the Assembly during the summer term. During her five year membership in Cloud 7, she has held a variety of elected and non-elected offices.

Lodi Rotary Club installs Joanne McReynolds as president

Joanne McReynolds was recently installed as president of the Lodi Rotary Club following the Rotary International Convention in Sydney, Australia. The four-day event, which drew to a close on June 4th, attracted more than 18,000 attendees from 153 countries.

Lodi Elks and CHP hold mature drivers class

California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Lodi Elks Lodge No. 1900, held a mature “Age Well…Drive Smart” program at the Elks Lodge. This program is a cooperative effort between the CHP, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the old driver community. The class was free and open to the public, but was specifically geared to mature drivers over the age of 65.

Masons present memorial scholarship award

On June 5, Lodi Lodge No. 256, Free and Accepted Masons, awarded the 2014 Henry and Karen Hansen Memorial Scholarship to Katie Roper, of Lodi. Roper has been active in Jobs’s Daughters, where she held a number of offices including Honor Queen.
