Tokay Radio Control Modelers give students flying demonstration
On Jan. 29, Lodi’s local model airplane flying club, the Tokay Radio Control Modelers, put on a demonstration of model flying with conventional airplanes, helicopters and ducted fan jets for about 20 children with their teachers from the Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School of Elk Grove. After a picnic lunch, some students were given the chance to fly a model airplane with an experienced model pilot.
Rotary Club speech contest
The Lodi Rotary Club recently hosted its’ annual speech contest for local high schools. Gino Spadafore will be advancing to the district-wide competition later this year.
Lodi Rotary distributes dictionaries to Lodi third-graders
Rotarian Bob Slayback, center, poses with third graders at Reese Elementary. The Lodi Rotary club distributed dictionaries to all third grade students in Lodi. The dictionary provided is a geographical dictionary that contains many facts including the solar system, U.S. presidents, the 50 states and the longest word in the English language.

Liberty Oaks Pony Club members participate in winter clinic
Members of the Liberty Oaks Pony Club recently participated in a three-day dressage in a winter clinic at Gateway Farm in Acampo. Liz Jenner instructed the group both privately and in group lessons. The final lesson included a musical ride and final salute.

Reunion concert benefits LOEL Center

Woodbridge Winery employees help Children's Dreamworks
Woodbridge Winery employees teamed up with Children’s Dreamworks this Christmas season to provide needy families with gifts. There were 18 departments in the winery who adopted 16 of the organization’s gift assistance families.
Germans from Russia hold Christmas dinner
The American Historical Society of Germans from Russia held its annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 15 at First Baptist Church of Lodi. Along with dinner, those who attended enjoyed a German sing-along and entertainment provided by Agnes Olmstead and accordionist Art Brogli.
