Butte fire

The Butte Fire broke out at 2:30 on Wednesday off of Butte Mountain Road east of Jackson, and is centered in the Mokelumne River Canyon, according to CalFire. 

The wildfire has grown to 31,974 acres so far, or about 50 square miles, and is only 10 percent contained. It covers a stretch of the North Fork of the Mokelumne River and straddles the Amador and Calaveras county line.
