Between 8 a.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. Monday, the Lodi Police Department received 584 calls for service. Below is a sample of those calls:


Impromptu fountain: 8:53 a.m. — A fire hydrant was spilling water on the 600 block of Roper Avenue.

Off the leash: 11:24 a.m. — Two pit bull puppies were running loose in a side yard on the 700 block of East Central.

Heading out: 11:36 a.m. — A caller complained about a neighbor who drives a pickup and speeds on the 2100 block of West Elm Street.

Elderly fraud: 12:54 p.m. — An elderly couple being scammed and asked to send a large sum of money to a subject who said he was their grandson on the 200 block of West Lodi Avenue.

Dogpile: 2:42 p.m. — Several juveniles were fighting and holding another one down on the 300 block of Olive Court.

Sibling rivalry: 3:13 p.m. — A caller said his 22-year-old sister tried to stab him with scissors earlier that morning on the 2500 block of Pinkerton Way.

Not exactly the water cooler: 4:29 p.m. — About eight juveniles were in possession of alcohol near the bathrooms at 1100 South Ham Lane. iPhone failure: 6:36 p.m. — Two juveniles were playing with a phone that had a picture of a gun on it, pointing the phone at cars and causing a road hazard on the 2300 block of West Kettleman Lane.

Hey, it’s cake: 11:39 p.m. — One man was taken into custody after jumping into a Dumpster next to Casa De Cake on the 300 block of East Kettleman Lane.


Attention-grabbing headlines: 12:45 p.m. — Three suspects in a Charcoal gray Honda stole all the newspapers from a newsstand on the 100 block of West Lodi Avenue.

Underage: 6:48 p.m. — Three males were drinking in an alley in the 300 block of East Elm Street.

I said it was OK: 9:14 p.m. — A parent was on scene and aware of a party with underage drinking and juveniles smoking marijuana on the 2300 block of West Elm Street.

Not very funny: 9:58 p.m. — Two male juveniles on bikes vandalized a home using Silly String or shaving cream on the 3000 of White Oak Way.


Party rockers: 1:04 a.m. — Three women in a red Dodge Neon were screaming out the windows of the car in a possible DUI on the 1300 block of Turner Road.

Lawn ornament: 9:14 a.m. — A man was yelling, refusing to leave the front yard of a caller on the 0 block of Rio Vista Drive.

Cocktail time: 12:00 p.m. — Unknown suspects in a gray and blue Impala stole Smirnoff and rum from a store on the 2400 block of Kettleman Lane.

Closer to the heavens: 3:08 p.m. — Kids were on the roof of a church in the 200 block of Mills Avenue.

That’s gross: 3:32 p.m. — A caller complained about transients constantly urinating in the alley on the 300 block of Central Avenue.

Want some booze with that?: 11:57 p.m. — The driver of a white Dodge was possibly under the influence when they left a drive-thru on the 600 block of Lodi Avenue.


This isn’t ‘Grand Theft Auto’: 3:56 a.m. — A female was screaming as a man tried to pull her into a vehicle on the 800 block of Kimberly Court.

Bad hair day: 8:10 a.m. — A woman in a red and black jacket with curlers in her hair was pushing a cart and talking to herself in the 2400 block of West Kettleman Lane.

Found it: 12:04 p.m. — A purse was found near the Dumpster on the 200 block of South Sylvan Way.

Bullseye: 2:31 p.m. — A caller’s house, boat and truck got egged in the 800 block of Eucalyptus Court.

Near miss: 2:58 p.m. — A man’s girlfriend threw a knife at him on the 400 block of Matthew Plaza.

Be careful: 4:05 p.m. — A 9-year-old was shot in the neck with a BB gun at the park 100 block Century Blvd.

Not gonna happen: 5:06 p.m. — Two male juveniles in the 200 block of North Cherokee were standing in front of a store asking for someone to buy them beer.

Batman: 6:21 p.m. — A caller in the 800 block of West Kettleman lane trapped a bat in a cereal box.
