In the 24 hours after 9 a.m. Wednesday, the Lodi Police Department handled 176 callls for service. The following is a sample of police and fire calls received by dispatchers:

Wednesday

Threats: 9:11 a.m. — Someone was being threatened after purchasing a car from a dealership owner.

Unwelcome solicitor: 11:40 a.m. — A man was soliciting for a homeless center by standing right outside the Food-4-Less door, 2430 W. Kettleman Lane.

Wrong number: 12:06 p.m. — An older Wellington Way woman called police, when she was actually trying to call Walgreens.

Vehicle vs. hydrant: 12:56 p.m. — Someone hit the fire hydrant outside the Finance Department, 310 W. Elm St., and it was leaking water from the base.

Youth watcher: 1:43 p.m. — A man was sitting in a car and watching girls in the 600 block of West Kettleman Lane. Police learned that all involved were juveniles, and that they were just hanging out.

Punched: 2:51 p.m. — A male punched another male in the 200 block of North Church Street, and made threats against him and his family.

Unhappy woman: 3:31 p.m. — A woman was yelling at a juvenile at Lodi and Guild avenues, ordered the child into her Toyota Sequoia, then almost ran over the child as she took off.

Missing child: 4:03 p.m. — A 14-year-old special needs child disappeared in the 1500 block of South Sacramento Street. He was found about 40 minutes later.

Residential burglary: 5:44 p.m. — Someone burglarized a home in the 1200 block of South Sacramento Street.

Armed man: 6:42 p.m. — A "husky" man had a gun in a holster on his hip at Motel 6, 1140 S. Cherokee Lane. Nobody answered the door when police knocked.

Shoplifter: 7:42 p.m. — A 26-year-old man was caught shoplifting at Smart Foods, 530 W. Lodi Ave.

Firearm deal?: 9:02 p.m. — People walked up to a vehicle at Garfield and Eden streets and exchanged something silver, possibly a firearm.

Father vs. daughter: 9:23 p.m. — A Schaffer Drive father hit his juvenile daughter.

Yelling cyclist: 9:25 p.m. — A drunken man was yelling while riding a bicycle on Almond Drive. The tattooed man, who wore black clothing, was last seen headed south on Songbird Place.

Bar fight: 10:43 p.m. — People were fighting at O'Riley's Pub, 211 S. Cherokee Lane.

Explosion: 10:52 p.m. — A loud explosion was heard and felt near Locust Street and Lee Avenue. Police couldn't find a cause.
