In the 48 hours after 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Lodi Police Department handled 324 calls for police and fire service. The following is a sample of calls received by dispatchers:


Check forgery by an ex

12:45 p.m. - A Sylvan Way woman's ex-husband crossed out business names on checks she'd written, then wrote his own name on the checks.

Repeated Vandalism

1:38 p.m. - A house is continuously being egged in the 2800 block of Applewood Drive.

Identity Theft

3:08 p.m. - Someone opened a city of Lodi utility account in a Charles Street woman's name.

Purse theft victim wins

3:14 p.m. - The previous day a female tried to steal a 60-year-old woman's purse in the 400 block of South Sacramento Street. She fought back and retrieved her purse from the tall, thin suspect.

Court case-related threats

3:18 p.m. - Someone made threats after a civil court appearance about childcare in the Lodi court parking lot in the 200 block of West Elm Street.

Blocker of stairs

5:18 p.m. - A man in a stairwell was refusing to let people pass, and also refusing to leave the 0-100 block of South Main Street. The 28-year-old was arrested on multiple warrants.

Dispute, alcohol included

5:24 p.m. - Two men were causing a disturbance in the 500 block of Maple Street. One, age 52, was arrested for public intoxication.

Employee vs. customer

5:28 p.m. - An employee and a customer got into a physical fight at Lodi Honda, 1700 S. Cherokee Lane. Then the customer left.


6:18 p.m. - Two boys were throwing sticks at vehicles as they stood on the Kettleman Lane overpass near Stockton Street.

Drunken Driver

6:54 p.m. - A 38-year-old man with a cracked windshield was arrested for driving under the influence at Cherokee Lane and Pioneer Drive.

Confused, drunk or both

6:58 p.m. - A confused or drunken man was lying down at the Depot, 24 S. Sacramento. The 27-year-old was arrested for public intoxication.

Domestic Dispute

8:30 p.m. - A husband and wife got into a domestic fight on Calaveras Street. Both, ages 40 and 39 respectively, were arrested.

Neighbor with a gun

8:43 p.m. - During a neighbor dispute at 2 p.m., one pulled a gun on the other in the 300 block of East Elm Street.

Noise + drugs = arrest

9:20 p.m. - Loud music was blaring from a black vehicle in front of Star Hotel, 22 S. Main St. A 34-year-old male parolee was arrested on a drug violation.


Drunken Driver

1:21 a.m. - A drunken driver was arrested in the parking lot of El Rancho Inn, 603 N. Cherokee Lane.

Garbage can fire

2:06 a.m. - Someone set a garbage can on fire in the Millswood Middle School parking lot, 233 N. Mills Ave.

Unbelted Children

12:32 p.m. - Three children weren't wearing seat belts inside a red Eagle Talon at AM/PM, 800 E. Kettleman Lane.

Small Fire

3:20 p.m. - Flames and smoke, possibly from a pile of trash, were seen beside a house in the 400 block of Rainier Drive. The fire did not burn the house.

Vehicle vs. child

3:56 p.m. - A vehicle hit a small child at Church Street and Olive Court. The child was alert and crying, and did not have serious injuries.

Vehicle vs. pole

4:17 p.m. - After driving a maroon vehicle into a pole at Elm Street and Mills Avenue, a man ran into a house.

Business Burglarized

4:18 p.m. - Busy Bee Laundry, 110 E. Elm St., was burglarized.

Fight, with a knife

4:28 p.m. - Three men, one with a knife, were fighting at Big Kmart, 520 S. Cherokee Lane.

Power Problem

5:14 p.m. - An explosion was heard and the power went out near Lawrence Park, 350 N. Washington St., apparently due to a blown transformer. A traffic signal was out at Turner Road and Stockton Street.

Domestic Violence

5:25 p.m. - A 26-year-old man was arrested for domestic violence in the 300 block of West Century Boulevard after a fight that ended with a woman possibly suffering a broken wrist. He went to court the next morning, was released from custody, then arrested again when he showed up at the home.


6 p.m. - An uncooperative female was arrested for shoplifting from Target, 2355 W. Kettleman Lane.

Residential Burglary

6:04 p.m. - Someone burglarized a home in the 2600 block of West Elm Street.

Gang Fight

7:07 p.m. - Gang members were fighting at Olive Court and Church Street.

Vehicle vs. pedestrian

8:17 p.m. - A male suffered a severe leg injury after being hit by a vehicle in the 400 block of North Church Street. The vehicle left the scene.

Shots Heard

9:28 p.m. - Several people heard gunshots in the 300 block of East Vine Street, but apparently nobody was harmed.

Drunk man walking

11:03 p.m. - Two males in a red pick-up truck were following a drunken, shirtless man who was walking in the 1900 block of South Hutchins Street. Someone was ultimately arrested for public intoxication.



2:15 a.m. - A 34-year-old woman was arrested for prowling in the 900 block of Wellswood Avenue.

Phone troubles?

8:41 a.m. - An elderly Otta Drive woman once again called police to report that she was hearing voices in her telephone.
