In the 24 hours after 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Lodi Police Department handled 168 calls for service. The following is a sample of police and fire calls received by dispatchers:
9:31 a.m. — Two female students were followed and harassed by a woman in a silver Honda in the 0-100 block of South Cherokee Lane. Officers learned that it was due to one of the students' driving conduct.
Young ID theft victim
10:12 a.m. — An unknown person was fraudulently using a Lodi child's Social Security number.
10:45 a.m. — Someone was battered at Lodi Middle School, 945 S. Ham Lane.
12:33 p.m. — Someone was repeatedly causing trouble in the 700 block of South Central Avenue. On the fourth call to police, the person was accused of destroying a TV and pouring bleach all over the carpet, clothes and a mattress.
1:23 p.m. — Three people were smoking marijuana in a red Acura Integra that headed east on Tokay Street, then north on Stockton Street.
2:23 p.m. — Two people broke into someone's kitchen in the 1600 block of West Locust Street.
4:15 p.m. — A female threatened a male with a knife in the 1500 block of Park Street.
More pot smokers
4:50 p.m. — Skateboarders were smoking marijuana in the 100 block of West Lodi Avenue.
5:01 p.m. — Three males got into a fight in the 400 block of East Elm Street. Two of them left and the third followed them to Poplar Street, where police arrested two men.
5:19 p.m. — A male was screaming profanities in front of a home in the 400 block of Cherry Street.
Wandering near the highway
5:41 p.m. — A woman was trying to stop a drunken man from walking onto southbound Highway 99 from Victor Road. The man was arrested for public intoxication.
6:15 p.m. — Two people were using skateboards directly beneath a "no skateboarding" sign in the 900 block of Rutledge Drive.
7:03 p.m. — Rubbish caught fire near Hutchins Street and Century Boulevard.
7:15 p.m. — A burgundy vehicle, with the rear bumper hanging loose, left the scene of a non-injury vehicle collision at Lockeford and Church streets. Police found the female driver and arrested her for hit-and-run.
Male vs. female
9:18 p.m. — A male and a female were physically fighting in the 2200 block of Kingsbury Drive.
Fight, bat included
11:02 p.m. — Two males, one of whom had a bat, were fighting at Vine and Garfield streets.
12:30 a.m. — A man took his South Cherokee Lane girlfriend's keys, pulled her hair, then pulled all the wires out from under her vehicle's dashboard.
2:06 a.m. — A man's wife was missing, and he believed she was staying with another man at a homeless camp near Victor Road and Houston Lane.
6:53 a.m. — Orchard Supply Hardware, 360 S. Cherokee Lane, was burglarized.
7:20 a.m. — An Orange Avenue youth didn't want to go to Liberty High School.
8:40 a.m. — A large, injured bird, possibly a baby hawk or eagle, was in a Rivergate Drive backyard.
8:42 a.m. — For the past five nights a woman had slept behind the Depot, 24 S. Sacramento St. A citizen worried about her and "doesn't want to read about her in the papers someday."
