In the 24 hours after 9 a.m. Thursday, the Lodi Police Department handled 162 calls for service. The following is a sample of calls received by dispatchers:
10:13 a.m. — A vehicle rolled down the embankment on the southbound Highway 99 off-ramp at Turner Road.
Collision at the hospital
11:45 a.m. — Three vehicles collided across from the ambulance ramp at Lodi Memorial Hospital, 975 S. Fairmont Ave. The ramp wasn't needed, as nobody was injured.
Fight and road rage
12:46 p.m. — After getting into a fight in the Burger King parking lot, 230 N. Cherokee Lane, occupants of a red truck and a red Ford Explorer continued their dispute as they headed south, with one vehicle hitting the other.
2:30 p.m. — Someone stole a royal blue Ford Taurus 10 minutes earlier in the 2300 block of West Turner Road. The vehicle had a bumper sticker that read, "Jesus loves me."
5:09 p.m. — Two males were fighting at Central Avenue and Vine Street. Both the suspect and the victim, who was bleeding from the face and riding a bicycle, left the scene.
Confused Comcast company
5:25 p.m. — A man in a Comcast shirt knocked on a Green Oaks Way door and insisted that he needed to enter the home to check equipment. The resident refused and called Comcast, who said he was a fraud. Police contacted the man and learned that he was, in fact, a legitimate Comcast employee.
5:59 p.m. — A male and a female were fighting in the 200 block of South Fairmont Avenue.
7:55 p.m. — Someone burglarized a home in the 1000 block of Lloyd Street.
8:30 p.m. — Tomatoes and eggs are regularly being thrown at a home in the 200 block of East Walnut Street.
10:16 p.m. — People were lighting fireworks as vehicles passed in the 0-100 block of East Lockeford Street. A Sperling Way resident had reported hearing gunshots, but the same fireworks were the cause of that call.
12:07 a.m. — Two juveniles had their faces painted white and were loitering in the street at Central Avenue and Mission Street. One was on a scooter and the other was in a wheelchair.
Dine and dash
2:44 a.m. — People left without paying for their meals at Denny's, 701 E. Kettleman Lane. They headed west at a high rate of speed in a white Nissan.
Fire hydrant with issues
4:07 a.m. — Water was gushing into the street from a fire hydrant in the 100 block of South Crescent Avenue.
Marital money dispute
5:34 a.m. — A Burgundy Drive man took money from his wife and left the home. Five minutes later he returned and they were arguing.
10:02 a.m. — People threw rocks and caused property damage in the 900 block of Tara Place.
Disgruntled salon customer
12:16 p.m. — A woman accused an East Elm Street salon employee of burning her hair, and she wanted a police officer to come deal with the situation. An officer explained the process of small claims court.
12:22 p.m. — Juveniles were throwing stink bombs inside the Library, 201 W. Locust St.
12:26 p.m. — Sometime during the night, a burgundy Buick LeSabre was stolen in the 100 block of Verdugo Drive.
12:39 p.m. — Tires were slashed in the 500 block of Falls Avenue.
Dagger in a toilet?
12:49 p.m. — A dagger was in the toilet inside a port-a-potty at Lodi Lake, 1301 W. Turner Road. It turned out to be the handle of a steak knife.
2:31 p.m. — A South Central Avenue resident's identity was stolen.
2:51 p.m. — Someone was doing drugs inside a black Chevrolet Suburban in the 1100 block of South Ham Lane.
4:48 p.m. — Security caught two juveniles shoplifting at Big Kmart, 520 S. Cherokee Lane.
Teen with drugs
5:57 p.m. — An 18-year-old was arrested for a drug violation in the 100 block of South Main Street.
Suitcase of odd items
6:53 p.m. — An unattended suitcase was left at the Depot, 24 S. Sacramento St. Police saw that it was filled with toilet paper and underwear. They disposed of the suitcase, which had no name on it.
More unwanted Comcast people
7:06 p.m. — Two men, claiming to work for Comcast, were walking back and forth in the 1300 block of Rivergate Drive, trying to get personal information from residents. They were gone when police arrived.
7:14 p.m. — After being assaulted by three people at Lawrence Park, 350 N. Washington St., a 48-year-old man went to the emergency room.
Porn on a cell phone
7:37 p.m. — A 7-year-old West Elm Street girl was receiving pornographic images on her cell phone.
8:10 p.m. — Three dogs were blocking the road at Vine Street and Cherokee Lane.
11:33 p.m. — A male and a female were physically fighting in the 300 block of East Lodi Avenue.
12:35 a.m. — A suspicious man, who was wearing a blue jacket with a Swastika on the back, was yelling at customers and refusing to leave Food-4-Less, 2448 W. Kettleman Lane. He finally headed east, where police found him and determined that he was not under the influence.
7:41 a.m. — A homeless man was talking to himself in the 300 block of Stanislaus Street.
