Anna Novoa takes a picture as her sister, San Hopper, holds a rose planted in the memory of their parents, Gabriel and Josie Hernandez, and sister, Diane Garcia, at the the Galt Post Office on Saturday. The Galt Beautification Committee plants the roses in honor of Galt residents who have died to give friends and family members an alternative to going to the cemetery, according to Al Baldwin, a volunteer who helped the committee. “It feels good to see the memory of my mother,” said Fatima Lopes, vice chairman of the Galt Beautification Committee, who planted a rose for her mother in the first rose garden at the Post Office. About 80 people turned out.
