Posted: Thursday, February 18, 2010 12:00 am

Spencer Cooper, a seventh-grade student at Lodi Seventh-Day Adventist Elementary, resets components of his Rube Goldberg machine, a machine comprised of several complicated steps to ultimately perform a mundane task such as popping a balloon, during the annual science and history fair Wednesday. Fifth-grade through eighth-grade students created projects ranging from what liquids kill bacteria to several Rube Goldberg machines. The top three projects from each grade will be on display at the San Joaquin Country Schools Science fair. (Dan Evans/News-Sentinel)
