Senior Awareness Day

Posted: Friday, May 28, 2010 12:00 am

Attendees browse through the offerings at the Senior Awareness Day at Micke Grove Park on Thursday. The event began in 1979 and is coordinated by the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency and the County Commission on Aging. Held at Micke Grove Park, the event featured a record 154 vendors, ranging from nursing homes to political candidates and law enforcement agencies. Organizers said attendance was about 2,500, down somewhat from last year because of rainy conditions. The event included a tribute to Wendy Moore, deputy director of Aging and Community Services for San Joaquin County, who is retiring after 24 years of service. (Richard Hanner/News-Sentinel)
