Volunteers give countless hours and provide needed services in the city of Lodi
Matt Lou stands with the car he uses as a reserve officer for the Lodi Police Department. Lou is one of four reserve officers who donated 118 hours to the department in 2011. Lou joined the reserve program 21 years ago, and his favorite part is going on patrol to help ease the work load for full-time officers.

Former Police Chief David Main recognized Volunteer of the Year Cadet Sgt. Dan Bristow, left, at the 2010 police awards ceremony. He is one of 13 police cadets who volunteered for the department in 2011. The Tokay High School graduate started volunteering with the cadet program in 2005. He plans to pursue a career in law enforcement after he graduates with his master’s degree in education, administration and leadership from the University of the Pacific.
