The city is planning a full day of family fun on July 4 for the third annual Independence Day Celebration. This year’s theme is, “Not just a town, but a community.”

Festivities kick off at 8 a.m. with the 5K Tonn: Run for the Badge at Veterans Field, 900 Caroline Ave. Walkers are welcome, too, for this inaugural event honoring fallen Galt Police Officer Kevin Tonn, who was killed in the line of duty in January.

At 9:30 a.m. the Children’s and Main parades will be held, along with the All World Softball Tournament at the Sports Complex, 1022 Caroline Ave. A horseshoe tournament is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the same location.

An Old Time County Fair Exhibit will be held at the Chabolla Center.

Afternoon activities kick off on Veterans Field with live music by Four Barrell. The cost for the Kids Zone is $5 per person for unlimited fun. Food booths sponsored by local nonprofits will also be available.

Fireworks begin at 9:30 a.m. on the Galt Market Grounds, 610 Chabolla Ave.
