A use permit for Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church to construct a building on Elderberry Court, southwest of Harney Lane and Lower Sacramento Road, will be reviewed Thursday by the San Joaquin County Planning Commission.

The church proposes a 5,290-square-foot building and using an existing 2,746-square-foot residence as a parsonage.

In other action, the Planning Commission will consider a use permit for a truck service center on Thornton Road, north of Highway 12, in Flag City. The project calls for a building for vehicle repairs, fast-food establishment and convenience store.

Thursday's meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Public Health/Planning Auditorium, 1601 E. Hazelton Ave., Stockton.

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
