A Lodi man has been arrested in connection with an investigation of allegations made by a pregnant woman who claims she was assaulted with a handgun, Lodi police said.

On Monday evening, Lodi police responded to Central Avenue and Vine Street, where a caller reported that a man had been chasing a pregnant woman during a domestic dispute.

The woman was found and told police she had been assaulted with a handgun after a fight with a man and another woman.

Police arrested 29-year-old Jesse Rosendo Mendoza of Lodi in connection with the incident.

Mendoza faces charges of exhibiting a firearm, battery on a person and threatening to terrorize, among other charges.

In addition to the arrest, officers conducted a search warrant on a home on the 900 block of Wellswood Avenue in connection with the investigation.

Several individuals were arrested on unrelated charges as a result of the search, but no further updates on the search were available at press time.
