The Galt Joint Union Elementary School District board will hold a new special meeting tonight to appoint a provisional trustee to the board.
The district decided to do this after board president John Gordon refused to allow a citizen to speak at last Thursday's meeting. Resident Pat Maple claims it was a violation of the state's open meeting law, more commonly known as the Brown Act.
Five applicants, including Maple, sought to replace Jennifer Collier who resigned her position last month. On Thursday, trustees unanimously chose Grace Malson.
A new vote will be held following public comment tonight. The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 380 Civic Drive, in Galt.
