Rep. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, voted Thursday to require President Barack Obama to bring troops home from Afghanistan by the end of the year.

The bill, House Concurrent Resolution 28, known as the Afghanistan War Powers Resolution, was defeated by the House, 321-93.

"Our country has now been at war for almost a decade, and it is our responsibility to ensure that there is a well-defined plan to bring this mission to a close," McNerney, who represents the Lodi area, said in a news release.

"At a time of grave economic challenges here at home, we're spending billions each year on the war while corruption within the Afghan government continues to flourish," McNerney said. "Committing resources to an endless war is not in the best interest of our country's security or economic stability."

McNerney added that guarding against future terrorist attacks is a critical priority. His son, Michael, joined the Air Force shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and he continues to serve with the Air Force Reserve, McNerney said.

McNerney dare not make these statements in public where someone might read the bill to him in front of witnesses.

So, Lodi's Rep. is sending the troops home to Libya? I know there has been some confusion in the last several years of certain African states status within the United States, but the last I heard, NO African state qualifies as United States Sovereign Territory, although some areas may hold "sister city" relations with Hawaii.

As for those war loving Republicans, they are not strong enough to fight to save the lives of those who will be terminated by Obamacare that are about to draw their pensions for the first time, and that body count will be higher than any Earthquake or Sana-mi. My hope is that our President will finally make some good judgments rather than making decisions consistently damaging America.

I am amazed that Congress is OK with things like they are which is obvious by the vote! Oh I cannot help laughing - of course I expected this! I guess Republikans are OK with spending unlimited money on war. Thank the Lord they stood up to CLick and CLack though!! Freedom sure is expensive for us poor folk.
