The trial for an accused child molester was briefly delayed Monday afternoon due to a scheduling conflict.

The trial of Richard Dale Evans, 60, will continue later this week because supervising deputy district attorney Kristine Reed was prosecuting another trial on Monday, according to court documents.

Evans, who was arrested Nov. 4, 2010 by the Stockton Police Department, is charged with multiple counts, including felony kidnapping of a minor and lewd acts upon a child.

The former Lodi Unified School District bus driver allegedly sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl with special needs on separate occasions in October and November of last year.

He is being held at San Joaquin County Jail on a $2.4 million bond. Evans’ trial will resume Thursday morning at Stockton Superior Court.
