A shooting suspect is still on the loose after he repeatedly shot a man on the Eastside late Tuesday.
Around 9:01 p.m., Lodi police received a call that a man had sustained multiple gunshot wounds while allegedly working late at a business on the 1000 block of East Vine Street.
The victim, a 24-year-old Hispanic man, was taken to Lodi Memorial Hospital to be treated for his wounds. Though he was shot multiple times, the victim — whose name has not been released by the Lodi Police Department — is expected to survive.
A suspect has yet to be named in the shooting. No suspect description was immediately available.
Police are attempting to possibly obtain any video surveillance of the area to help identify a suspect.
Officer Erika Urrea said she had attempted to get a description and information on what happened from truck drivers parked in the area for the night, but no one said they heard anything.
Urrea added that the incident is still under investigation, but police are not ruling out crimes like attempted robbery or whether the shooting was gang-related.
This is just one of multiple shootings in Lodi so far in 2012.
In February, 21-year-old Eric Lopez Ramirez was shot and killed on the 300 block of Central Avenue. Just one month later, 18-year-old Angelica Osorio was shot and killed across the street from her home on the 0 block of South Garfield Street.
Both incidents were gang-related.
While Lodi statistically only sees roughly two homicides a year, in just the past three months, the city has already hit that number.
Tuesday night’s shooting was located near the Lodi Unified School District’s administration building on East Vine Street.
An LUSD Board of Trustees meeting was being held at the time the shooting occurred.
Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to call Lodi Police Department Dispatch at 209-333-6727 or Lodi Crime Stoppers at 209-333-6771.
