Two adults, including a Galt resident, were killed and a young girl suffered major injuries in a head-on collision on Saturday that is being investigated as a drunk driving accident.
The crash was reported at 12:55 p.m. Saturday on Highway 49, just south of Carol Kennedy Drive.
Penny Miles, 52, of Murphys, was driving her 2007 Toyota Tacoma pickup south on the highway when her car crossed into the opposing lanes of traffic and collided with a northbound 1996 Chevy box truck driven by Eleazar Rodriguez, 49, of Galt, who was in the far right lane.
Miles and Rodriguez were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in Rodriguez's truck, a 10-year-old girl whose name was not released, suffered major injuries and was flown by helicopter to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
CHP suspected that Miles was intoxicated.
