Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, which wants to move from its Eastside location to a rural area in southwest Lodi, was granted a one-year time extension to secure building permits.

The San Joaquin County Planning Commission granted the time extension for church on Thursday.

Plans call for the church to be relocated from 420 S. Central Ave. to Elderberry Court, southwest of the Harney Lane-Lower Sacramento Road intersection, was granted an extension to Nov. 27. The use permit application expired more than a month ago.

Plans call for the new church complex to include a 5,290-square-foot building to include 2,320-square-foot prayer hall plus offices, classrooms, a nursery and kitchen. An existing residence will be used as a parsonage — living quarters for the pastor.
