Michael Stokes was born and raised in the farming business. A third-generation agri-businessman, Stokes began farming at the age of 18 when he worked for his parents. He and his brother, Bill, then ventured out on their own.

Today, he is the owner of Stokes Brothers Farms, Stokely Orchards, S&L Vineyards, Stokes and Lombardi Farms, and Benson Ferry Farms. His ventures include wine grapes, cherries, apples and alfalfa hay. He employs many youth in the community and believes it is important to keep them involved.

    Dear Brett,
This award for Mike Stokes is well deserved. In fact, Wendy and Mike should both be awarded. They not only put up thier own "big chunk of change", but they put in the time and effort to help kids in so many ways, you might be surprised. Ask some of the parenst of the Lodi FFA, or some parents at the Boys & Girls club, you'll find out they not only talk the talk, but they walk the walk..... Very hard to find parents who put in the time and effort that these folks do.

So, why is he a rising star? Do they just give these out to anyone who donates a big chunk of money?
