You won’t have to drive very far to see some snow, but you better get there this afternoon or evening.

Beginning mid-afternoon today and continuing until at least midnight, you’ll only need to drive to the 2,000-foot level in the foothills to see it, said Ken Clark, a meteorologist for AccuWeather.com, a private forecasting service.

If you go west, check out Mount Diablo today for some snow as well, Clark said.

In the Lodi-Galt area, you can expect some cold rain this afternoon and cold but dry weather on Wednesday. Lows Wednesday night are expected to be 32 to 34 degrees. Clark said.

The storm should end Wednesday morning. It will still be quite cold on Wednesday, but it will be dry, Clark said. There will probably be no rain Wednesday through rest of week, he added.

If you’re driving to Southern California, the snow level will also be at about 2,000 feet, creating some hazardous conditions along Grapevine, a mountain pass on Interstate 5 between Bakersfield and the San Fernando Valley.

“I usually don’t make predictions about road closures, but I would be surprised if there isn’t one (on Grapevine) tonight,” Clark said.

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
