A man’s body was found at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Beaver Slough, located along Blossom Road in Thornton, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
A fisherman discovered the body of James Jones, a 42-year-old man out of Elk Grove, and called the Sheriff’s office. The Sheriff’s department said Jones parked a car in a nearby driveway, blocking in residents on Sunday night.
County Sheriff’s Boating Safety deputies responded and recovered the body from the water. There were no signs of foul play upon recovery, according to the sheriff’s office. The cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology results.
The car Jones was driving is registered to a current missing person out of Vallejo, who has still not been located. The vehicle was released to the missing person’s long-time girlfriend of 15 years.
