Lodi City Council to consider solid waste rate increases

Almost a month after increasing water rates and two weeks after holding a public hearing to consider increasing electric rates, the Lodi City Council will hold a public hearing to consider increasing the rate for solid waste collection by nearly 3 percent.

“This increase is allowed under the franchise agreement that was executed with Waste Management,” Public Works Director Charles Swimley said on Monday. “It’s better to have smaller, more frequent increases for whatever the commodity is than to have large, less frequent increases, because in my opinion people can plan for those increases.”
