Two men and a teenage boy were arrested late Monday, suspected in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy over the weekend on the 400 block of 2nd Street in Galt. Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a fourth suspect who remains at large.
Police have arrested Hector Ojeda, 18, of Galt; Damien Flores, 23, of Acampo; and a 14-year-old, also of Galt, and booked them into jail on charges of homicide. The News-Sentinel is not identifying the 14-year-old suspect because he is a minor.
All three are documented gang members, Galt Police Lt. Brian Kalinowski said. Hector Caballero, 18, of Galt, is wanted in connection with the killing of the teen, who was identified by the Sacramento County coroner as Ricardo Guerrero, also of Galt. Additional information about Guerrero was unavailable. However, he is not known by police to have any gang associations, according to Kalinownski.
Police believe Caballero is still in the Galt area. They said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Caballero is described by police as Hispanic, 5-feet, 8-inches tall, 135 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and multiple tattoos.
Police learned of the incident to 911 reported that several shots were fired in the area of 2nd and E streets at about 9:30 p.m., Sunday
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Guerrero shot dead in front of a home. Police are not releasing the kind of weapon used.
During the investigation, witnesses told officers that three men were seen running from the area on foot after the shooting, according to police.
It is the city’s second homicide this year. Galt Police Officer Kevin Tonn was fatally shot in the line of duty in January.
Anyone with information on Caballero’s whereabouts or other information about the crime is asked to call Galt police at 209-366-7000.
