Most parking violations in Downtown Lodi are committed by merchants, city says
The three levels of the Downtown Lodi parking garage are nearly empty early in the morning on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014. According to city staff, Downtown employees are parking in the spaces intended for visitors along School Street, rather than using the permitted lots or parking for free at the Downtown garage, leaving shoppers with fewer parking options

I’d rather park (in a lot) and walk, rather than in a dark parking garage. It’s not the walk from the garage that bothers people. There’s nobody there to patrol it and make us feel any safer.”

Some Downtown Lodi merchants say they don’t use the Downtown parking structure because they don’t feel safe there.
Ramona Henninger, an employee at Sheri’s Sonshine & Nutrition, located at 6 N. School St., said she hasn’t parked in the garage since about 2007.
