Laotian couple missing north of Rio Vista

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a couple that left to go fishing on the Delta on Thanksgiving Day. The U.S. Coast Guard found their fishing boat in the water, north of the Rio Vista bridge, unoccupied.

The couple has not been seen and has not contacted family since, according to a sheriff’s report issued Saturday.

Van Chanpenxi, 64, is a Laotian man standing 5 feet 9 inches and weighing 155 pounds. He is bald and clean shaven, has brown eyes and wears glasses. It is unknown what he was wearing at the time.

Chantra Chanpenxi, 51, is a Laotian woman standing 5 feet 3 inches and weighs 120 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes. It is unknown what Chantra was wearing at the time.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the Chanpenxis is urged to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department at 916-874-5115.
