After holding the Galt Farmers Market on Sunday for two summers, the city was decided to move it to Thursday in hopes of getting more people to come.

"Since we are a bedroom community, we have a lot of commuters. On Thursday, they can stop in on the way home, versus having to make the effort to go on Sunday," said Ann Ullrich, a member of the Galt District Chamber of Commerce board.

this is the 3rd location in 4 years. stop moving it around from space to space. we are now on another day and in the evening. stop changing that too. i hope this is the last time we have to look for the market. leave it all produce, no furniture, no jewelry, etc.

Don't you think that it would have been smarter to choose another commuter night than the same night as Lodi's Farmer's Market? That way local vendors don't have to make a choice and both cities can enjoy purchasing fresh produce.

This is not the Galt (flea) Market, this is the Farmer's Market, I loved the one that was held on Sundays for the past few years in the bank's parking lot and I will probably love it even more in the new location. T&C you are misinformed and always negative. It must be miserable being you.

Its no secret that some venders sell "Counterfeit DVD movies at the market! Tell us why GPD doesn't walk around the market Maggie, (Or You yourself) and open up random dvd cases to see a blank DVD inside? That in itself would make a good article and help shut down venders breaking the law.

By also moving it to a new location, the city is also hoping to attract residents to come downtown, said Boyce Jeffries, parks and recreation director. The market will be in the new city parking lot on Lincoln Way. For the kickoff market this Thursday, the city will shut down Lincoln Way to make room for an expanded market with a beer garden."Sorry I just had to laugh! "the city will shut down Lincoln Way to make room for an expanded market with a beer garden."Desperate times call for desperate measures!
