Jose Angulo is the California Lottery’s latest $1 million prize winner, thanks to the $250 Million Cash Spectacular Scratchers game. He bought his ticket last week at Dry Creek Liquor, located at 630 C St. in Galt.

Angulo and his dad came into the Lottery’s Sacramento District Office on Thursday to claim the million-dollar prize after he scratched the big winner a day earlier, the California Lottery reported.

Angulo, of Galt, and his father were together when he bought the winning Scratchers ticket, and he said that as soon as he realized he was a $1 million winner he gave his dad a huge hug.

When asked what he would like to do with his winnings, Angulo said he hopes to buy a house.

The retailer is a winner, too; Dry Creek Liquor will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The retailer has already received the state lottery’s designation as a “lucky retailer,” having sold multiple winning tickets of $1 million or more over the years.

Congratulations on your lucky lottery win. It's about time some of those nice cash prizes turned up in the Lodi/Galt area. Enjoy and invest well!

Should graduations return to the Grape Bowl?

Lodi Unified leaders are moving Lodi and Tokay high school graduations from the Grape Bowl to the Spanos Center at UOP in Stockton. They cite limited seating, costs and unpredictable weather at the Grape Bowl. But others say graduations at the Grape Bowl are an important Lodi tradition, and one reason many supported renovating the stadium. What do you think?
